Miss China's month-long training in New York City may not have led to the Miss Universe crown, but her handlers believe the experience prepared her for her second act ─ starting with a stint on “Keeping up With the Kardashians.”

　　中國環(huán)球小姐在紐約城為期一個月的訓(xùn)練可能并沒有讓她成為環(huán)球小姐大賽冠軍，但教練們相信，這段經(jīng)歷讓她為自己的下一場戲做好了準(zhǔn)備。首先是參演真人秀《與卡戴姐妹同行》(Keeping up With the Kardashians)。

　　Luo Zilin ─ or Rosaline, as the reigning Miss China prefers to be called in the U.S. ─ was set to walk in the Sherri Hill fashion show Wednesday, an event where the Kardashian sisters are expected to film an episode of their reality-TV series.

　　本屆中國環(huán)球小姐羅紫琳（在美國用英文名Rosaline）將在周三Sherri Hill時裝秀上走秀，預(yù)計卡戴姐妹屆時將在這場活動中錄一集節(jié)目。

　　Luo's mentor, the Chinese beauty mogul and TV personality Yue Sai-Kan, sees the potential TV appearance as a launch pad to bigger and better things in America.

　　羅紫琳的導(dǎo)師是華人美容業(yè)大亨、電視界名人靳羽西(Yue Sai-Kan)。靳羽西認(rèn)為，羅紫琳如果亮相這檔電視節(jié)目，就會以此為起點，在美國更上一層樓。

　　“First she will shoot with the Kardashians, then we will help her break into the U.S. market,” said Kan, the director of the Miss China program. “I would like to try to place her in some television shows, a magazine like Sports Illustrated and maybe something like Victoria's Secret.”

　　身為環(huán)球小姐中國賽區(qū)總策劃的靳羽西說，首先她會和卡戴姐妹拍戲，然后我們會幫助她打入美國市場；我愿意盡量把她安排進(jìn)一些電視節(jié)目、《體育畫報》(Sports Illustrated)這樣的雜志，可能還有“維多利亞的秘密”(Victoria's Secret，服裝品牌)之類。

　　Over the summer, Kan trained her protégé for four weeks at her Sutton Place townhouse in Manhattan. It was a bid to Westernize China's pageant heavyweight for the international Miss Universe competition, which was held earlier this week in Sao Paulo, Brazil. During her time in New York, Luo was taught poise, dance, manners and the art of answering difficult questions.

　　Each day, Kan and her team asked the beauty queen more than 350 questions ranging from humanitarian issues to economics. But they couldn't have prepared her for the question posed to her in the competition: “Nude beaches are common in some parts of the world. Is public nudity appropriate or inappropriate and why?”

　　靳羽西和她的團(tuán)隊每天都問羅紫琳350多個問題，從人道到經(jīng)濟(jì)議題無所不包。但他們可能并沒有讓她為后來在比賽中被問到的這樣一個問題做好準(zhǔn)備：裸體海灘在世界上某些地區(qū)很常見，公開場合裸體是否妥當(dāng)，為什么？

　　None of the well-heeled guests invited to lob questions at Miss China during the New York training sessions had ever broached such a subject. Kan believes that question cost Miss China the crown: “That was a stupid question. How do you answer a question as inane as that?”

　　紐約訓(xùn)練期間受邀前來盤問羅紫琳的名流嘉賓中，沒有誰曾經(jīng)提到這樣一個話題。靳羽西認(rèn)為正是這個問題使中國環(huán)球小姐未能摘得冠軍。她說，這是一個傻問題，這樣白癡的問題你怎么去回答？

　　“Maybe her answer was too Chinese,” Kan sighed. “She said you have to respect the decision of the government policy.”

　　靳羽西嘆息說，可能是她的回答太中國化了；她說你得尊重政府的政策。

　　Out of 89 contestants in the Miss Universe pageant, Luo placed fifth ─ an elite finish that Kan attributes mainly to her regimen of strict training in Manhattan. “She was an ordinary model girl from Shanghai and we made her an international figure. We changed her in New York,” Kan said. “I don't know how I could have trained her better.”

　　環(huán)球小姐選美比賽的89名參賽者當(dāng)中，羅紫琳拿到第五名。這算是一個不錯的結(jié)果，靳羽西認(rèn)為這主要是因為她在曼哈頓對羅紫琳的嚴(yán)格訓(xùn)練。靳羽西說，她是一位來自上海的普通模特，我們讓她成了一位國際知名人物；我們在紐約改變了她；我覺得我對她的訓(xùn)練已經(jīng)是最好的了。

　　As for Luo, her taste of life in the Big Apple has left her wanting more once her year-long obligation to be Miss China in her home country is complete. “I would like to get the chance to work in New York,” she said. “I have no regrets. There is more to come.”

　　至于羅紫琳自己，在初嘗紐約生活之后，她有了更大的希冀，不過要等她在國內(nèi)擔(dān)任中國環(huán)球小姐的一年義務(wù)期結(jié)束。她說，我希望有機(jī)會在紐約工作，我不后悔，將來還有更多。
